Axe
In London’s Victoria Station, Lynx installed an AR billboard where pedestrians could interact with virtual angels descending from the sky. When people stood in a marked area, the screen displayed the "fallen angels" coming down to greet them, connecting the brand’s imagery of allure and attraction with an interactive twist.
Burger King
Burger King invited users to download its app and point their phones at competitors' billboards, which then displayed the ads being "burned" away in flames, revealing a Burger King Whopper coupon. This creative mix of AR and competitive advertising drove significant app engagement and increased foot traffic to Burger King locations.
Nike
Nike launched a large-scale AR billboard in Shibuya, Tokyo, where passersby could scan a QR code to reveal an interactive 3D Nike shoe. Users could explore different angles, view product details, and interact with the shoe as if it were floating in front of them. This innovative use of AR in outdoor advertising combined both entertainment and product exploration.
IKEA
IKEA created a visually striking AR billboard in Times Square, where the 3D effect transformed the display into what looked like a real-life room. As viewers passed by, it appeared as though a woman was interacting with the space, pulling back a curtain and relaxing.
Pokemon Go
Pokemon Go collaborated with JCDecaux to integrate AR experiences in various cities worldwide, where players could see virtual Pokemon creatures appear around physical billboards. This interactive experience not only delighted players but also promoted local businesses near the billboards.
