5 Stunning DOOH Installations That Will Blow Your Mind!

In digital out-of-home advertising (DOOH), promotional materials, including movies, animations and brand commercials, are shown electronically. 1 min

When we talk about digital out-of-home (DOOH), we refer to any screen showing commercials in a public space. Due to its user-friendliness and ability to reach a wider audience than traditional billboards while still commanding the attention of its viewers, DOOH has become a hot topic among marketing moguls.

With the use of digital signage solutions such as the LOOK DS software, businesses may remotely manage the display’s content, adjusting it based on factors like the time of day, the weather, the demographics of the area, and more.

Below are five remarkable DOOH examples of digital signage installations that will blow your mind.

1) The New York City Marriott Marquis' Digital Billboard

DOOH Installations in New York

This exhibit, located on the hotel's east façade in the center of the bowtie that is Times Square, stands out like a sore thumb among the many billboards that have come to characterize the area. The scale of the display contributes to its prominence; at 23 x 100 meters (75 x 328 feet), it is somewhat larger than half a football field. Its length takes up a whole city block, from West 45th Street to West 46th Street. With a resolution of 2368 by 10048, the display is crisp even when seen up close; its resolution surpasses that of 4K displays by a large margin. In addition to providing a smooth 270-degree view, its two rounded edges dispense with the conventional flat-panel television design often associated with digital signage.

As you can expect, advertisers need a lot of visual strength to break through the crowds and get the attention of the 300,000 people who walk through Times Square daily.

2) 3D Video Wall - Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li Shopping District, Chengdu

DOOH Installation

The Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li retail area in Chengdu, China, is home to this curving, 900-square-meter LED signage artwork on the external wall of a mall. It features a cool party trick where a starship that looks like the USS Enterprise pops out from behind the screen and hovers in front of it. While the hologram-like appearance is most pronounced at a certain viewing angle, no special eyewear is required to experience it. It is in stark contrast to commercial 3D cinemas and consumer 3D TVs.

3) Coca-Cola's 3D Robotic Billboard - Times Square, New York

Coca-Cola conceptualized, designed, and built an electro-kinetic LED signage display, which measures 12 meters by 20 meters (42 feet by 68 feet), to showcase a new perspective on the 3D format. It consists of over 1,700 robotic LED cubes that can be moved to create striking 3D choreographies. The first ever 3D robotic billboard and the biggest ever 3D robotic billboard both fell under the wing of this groundbreaking structure, which took home two Guinness World Records in the process.

4) Canopy Screen for Pedestrian Walkways at The Place, Beijing

DOOH Installation in Beijing

According to reviews on Tripadvisor, the LED signage above the pedestrian walkway at The Place (9 Guanghua Lu, Beijing) sets it apart from other luxury malls in the city, not the shopping or eating options (though both are highly rated). The project, which also incorporates a sound system, uses a gigantic LED screen measuring 30 meters by 250 meters (98 feet by 820 feet) to show promotional materials, animated films, text messages and user-uploaded images. The screen is captivating enough during the day but shines after the lights go down.

5) London's Piccadilly Lights, Also Known as "The Strand"

DOOH Installations in London

This digital signs display, updated in 2017, is about 17 by 44 meters (56 by 144 feet), making it 11 times larger than Guy the gorilla or four times as tall as double-decker buses. This modernization comprises 5,500 individual LED tiles and has a high resolution of 5,490 by 2,160. With support for up to 281 trillion colors, this screen can accurately reflect the hue of any product line.

This signage is unlike any other since it uses live data from a network of cameras to identify individual faces. It has mood detection software, age detection software accurate to within five years, sex detection software, and digital signage software that can tell who is looking at what ad. It may also function as a timepiece and temperature gauge. With this data in hand, the tech selects the most appropriate advertisement to air, such as a promo for convertible automobiles on a day when the temperature is high. Amazing, huh?

From interactive digital displays to mesmerizing projections, these stunning DOOH installations will blow your mind! With the use of modern technology, these installations can bring an entirely new experience to any space. Whether you're looking for a unique way to stand out or want to entertain your customers, these awe-inspiring installations are sure to be the perfect addition to any business.
